Biking Taiwan: GGI單車-Linkou Giant: Taoyuan 105-成功 Loop
I rose Saturday morning around 6:30 AM and had a hard time wiping the crud out of my eyes. However, it was important to me to get going and take a much missed local group ride with the GGI單車-Linkou Giant riders.
As it’s the beginning of the month, the rides are a little easier than those at month end. Case in point, this ride was only 26 kilometers and barely 160 meters of climbing. That’s a bit of a far cry from the 80 plus kilometers and 1,200 meters climbing common Saturday or Sunday rides would be. However, it was very nice to do a ride less strenuous and just casual and for fun.
We started out from the GGI單車-Linkou Giant bike shop heading south on ZhongXiao Road-忠孝路 till turning left on WenHua North Road-文化北路一段 and riding that till it turns into 105 all the way down onto a right onto Highway 1 in Taoyuan-桃園. In Taoyuan, turn right at ChengGong Road Section 3-成功路三段, which is the major intersection just before highway 1 splits off to the right as well a hundred meters beyond.
Stay riding up hill, gradually, on ChengGong Road past the Veterans Hospital and further upwards for some nice Taoyuan and Nankan-南崁 views after only a bare 100 meters of climbing.
ChengGong then continues along the Linkou plateau ridgeline for a few kilometers of scenery before merging right onto ShuRen Road-樹人路 and then you turn left onto Dahu Road-大湖路 just past the police academy.
By staying on Dahu Road road, you’ll be taken back to ZhongYi Road Section 2-中意路二段 which is same road that you rode on to go down 105 earlier. Take a left onto ZhongYi and then backtrack yourself back to the Giant shop to complete the ride.
