Taiwan In Cycles: Packin’ Pistola

Climbing out of DongshihMy friend and biking buddy, Drew, wrote up my impressions of the Salsa Pistola that I tried out today. Besides this, I’ve got to give a very special thank you to Tom of Famous Bikes in Taichung for letting me try the bike out on a real 80 kilometer ride than just around the block.

My focus for a new bike is a steel or titanium long distance frame that can handle commuting to school and light touring around Taiwan and beyond. Furthermore, I’ve got a special penchant for the SRAM gruppo.

I can definitely agree with Drew on one main point, when shopping for a new bike, get out and ride it for an hour or so. Then you’ll know whether or not that bike will work for you.

Even now, the bike that I’m considering is the one for me, will go through another test before I plunk down my monthly salary on it.
