Riding Hualien with Gunnstein
A recent Saturday had me in Hualien getting ready to take Peichi around the Rift Valley for a week. First though, Gunnstein of Norway came to Taiwan to buy his second TW Bents, a Cobra.
As Gunnstein was in Hualien as well, we were introduced by some mutual friends to meet up and go for a nice 35 kilometer ride along the coast and foothills.

Michael, that narrow road looks very scenic and perfect for bikes! Can cars use it? Whereabouts is it?

Paul, along the oceanside is a bike path. However, some scooters and locals drive along it to their favorite fishing spot. Up in the valley it’s narrow and a little muddy, but cars can fit through.

Ah, cool! That winds around the part of Hualien (southeast of the airport) where I want to live! I have taken that path but not as far North as you.
