At least I could catch up from here

Biking Taiwan – A Puli-埔里 Century

Sunday morning found me and Michael Turton biking over to Dongshan-東山 to meet up with Drew, Darren, Patrick and Philippe for an easy century.

Century as in 100 miles of biking back roads and mountain passes through more than 7,000 feet of vertical climbing.

Ah… a lovely day indeed.

Drew has a write up and photos.

  1. I came, I contemplated, I went home!

    With very, very tired legs….

    Darren.

    • At least you tried. Also next time, you’ll know to leave the milspec backpack and gear at home. You’ll have an easier time climbing without 15 kilos of kit.

Still, you did good climbing the hills you stuck with. I’m looking forward to riding with you again.

  2. Congrats on an “easy” century. From the elevation chart it is anything but easy. The three amigos on the wooden bridge photo was great, the boys looked definitely ready for any mountainous century . The 6 foot metal fence looks exactly like the one we have installed on Golden Gate bridge lately to prevent people jumping over.

    • Thank you for the kind words. I rode another 150 plus and climb yesterday to Taipingshan in Yilan. I wasn’t quite recovered yet, but still I was 1 of 3 finishers to the top out of some 20 odd riders.
