Boarding Ryan Air for Venice

Oh hum… It’s Venice… Italy

In early October, Peichi and I visited Venice for our first time. We flew out of Hann-Frankfurt airport in Germany onto Venice-Treviso airport. An hour by bus outside of Venice.

Ryan Air despite being a cheap to fly airline, was a great lesson on seeing how many ways fees and marketing messages could be crammed into confined quarters.

Once in Venice proper, I couldn’t believe how great it felt to be surrounded by fresh smelling water again. Two months of seeing India brown, had left me wanting more.

Each of the six Venetian regions offered something for us. Most importantly, they meant many opportunities for Peichi and I to sneak our noses into the local stores on the every present hunt for cheese, bread, prosciutto and cheap, boxed wine.

For 5 Euros, we were eating and drinking along the many waterfronts and soaking up the sun as great new memories.

Our cruise ship, Costa Fortuna sailed out of Venice on Monday and we returned a week later. Upon the Venice return, we stuck our luggage in the railway lock up and headed over to Murano for viewing one of my favorite art mediums, glass.

Interestingly and depressingly, there was so much sameness in so many of the shops that I didn’t buy anything. Sniff, I had been looking so forward to buying some new pieces. Oh well, we do know now to research for the more progressive foundries in the future to set viewing appointments.

  1. I enjoyed seeing your pictures. Thank you for getting back to showing your trip pictures. You and Michael K. taking a long time (to me) to show pictures from your trips are torture to me. I cannot talk as I have not used up the film in my camera and I have pictures of Jim and his three kids on it from September.
