Finally after several trips to Rome, I visited the Vatican. My Catholic beliefs seem to be lowering as I saw the beauty and grace of the home cathedral and wondered where was the church truly when people were needing help in times past.

When I see thousands of dollars spent on a church, no matter how big or small, I wonder, also, why the money is not spent helping people in need. Not as handouts, but as tools or education for a job or a better job. Give food and medical care as needed. Give gardening tools and seeds, build a well, etc., to help more than a few. I gave money to one church for capital expenses as the church needs to be enlarged. One of their furnaces needs to be replaced and they are buying artwork!
