WWOOF Italy: La Rocchetta in Mugnano
For three weeks of January, Peichi and I WWOOFed at La Rocchetta in Mugnano, just an hour’s train ride north of Rome. What a beautiful home Claudio and Michelle have. Thank you very much for having us.
During our time, we spent much of it outside helping with wood gathering, chopping and stacking. Additionally, we cleared and remade ditches, turned garden soil and ran with Gea the dog.
As a special treat, a few mules and a horse broke loose form their homes and visited ours for a bit. Mr. Brown, the horse, didn’t like returning home very much and was back a couple of days later. With having a horse to work around, it made me miss working with large farm animals.
Previously, when we WWOOFed in 2008, we didn’t work with any other WWOOFers. This trip has been different in that our main farms have had other WWOOFers. For La Rocchetta, John and Stina of Sweden livened up our time with their youth and strong need for lots of milk and chocolate. I’d enjoy working with the two of them again.
Ciao for now, we’re at Casa Faustina in Assisi till Boston on March 1.
