Sun shines down lovingly to dry my sweaty feet
Sun shines down lovingly to dry my sweaty feet.
Up the the 北53 I rode,
into the 觀音山 visitor center I strode,
looked back across the valley,
Taipei was laid bared to me.
It’s beautiful I think.
Still not enough.
Hike upon trail,
steeper and rockier than I thought.
My bike rolls up a foot and brakes,
another foot shuffle I take.
Many little hills climbed
and a few stumbles my stiff shoes find.
It’s okay really,
life has its ups.
Now, it’s a little like down,
but up instead.
Climb, shuffle, stumble
till the real trail is found.
八里 sits below me now,
karoke plays behind,
birds chirp aside,
circadas rub ahead.
This place, these sounds bring me home.
It’s relaxed, I’m relaxed.
No problem I see in the hard trail ahead.

7/15/2009 – It wasn’t an easy climb up, but I’d gladly do it again.
