Michael and Esmond on 北51 above Bali going to Guanyinshan-觀音山 close up (biking, Asia, Taiwan, friends, Michael, Bali-八里)

Life in Taiwan: 7/24/2009 to 8/2/2009

It’s been a busy week with life, liberty, pursuit of happiness and of course work a lot. :)

I’ve cut down on my biking distances recently to try and get back to recovering faster. I’ve also been lifting and doing some additional cardio work to try and work different muscles.

In the past couple of weeks, I’ve gained a new biking partner, Esmond of Linkou. We’ve done a couple of early Saturday morning rides together and will do a few more yet. He’s concerned about doing hills and distance and not being in shape. Heck, he’s doing decently to keep up with me. So I’m trying to convince him, he’s doing pretty well. This past Saturday morning, he was passing folks going up Guanyinshan-觀音山 with me. That’s a good thing.

Scania, Alrey, TBD eating ice in Nankan-南崁Yesterday, the Giant shop crew and I road through Taoyaun-桃園 into Nankan-南崁 for dropping off bike parts and eating ice. Of course, it wasn’t such a nice lazy ride back from Nankan. I think I found a 15% grade road, oh my burning legs. Coming right out of Nankan, just west of Freeway 1, is a nice and steep road. It’s maybe only 500 or 700 meters, but it looks daunting.

For all of you out there, have a great week and ride well!
