In big and grand this past week, Weiqi, a great family friend came down to stay for a few days. While she was here, we took her out to ride around West Harbor-西子灣 in a four-seat bike and taste the local fare.
Saturday morning I successfully, but barely woke at 7 AM to go for a hill and country side ride towards Kaohsiung’s newest amusement park, I-da. That dream lasted about 6 kilometers, I turned right when I should’ve gone left and ended up eventually in Linyuan-林園 watching local junior high and high school boys practice for this coming weekend’s Dragon Boat Races.
In a special treat, we met Brian and Carol Boswell of the New Zealand based S/V Charioteer. They’ve been living aboard there 1984 launched, 15.94 meter sailboat since 2008. Them lucky guys. They were very kind to have us aboard to check out their home and get further encouraged to make living aboard and sailing the world a reality for Peichi and I.
Since, I couldn’t stay away from so many shaved ice options, I visited West Harbor again this afternoon, first for a black sugar ice and then again in the evening with Peichi on a rental bike for street food and fresh mangos on mango shaved ice. Mmm, mmm. Living is Taiwan is darn difficult.
